The Char Dham Yatra is a pilgrimage circuit in India that includes four sacred sites: Yamunotri, Gangotri, Kedarnath, and Badrinath. The best time to visit Char Dham Yatra depends on various factors, including weather conditions and the accessibility of the sites. Here’s a breakdown of the ideal time to visit each destination:
- Yamunotri: The temple at Yamunotri is accessible from April to November. The best time to visit is during the summer months, from May to June, and September to October. These months offer pleasant weather, with temperatures ranging from 10°C to 20°C. Avoid the monsoon season (July to August) due to heavy rainfall and the winter season (November to April) when the area is covered in snow.
- Gangotri: Gangotri is open to pilgrims from April to November. The recommended time to visit is similar to Yamunotri, during the months of May to June and September to October. The temperatures during this period range from 10°C to 25°C. Again, it’s best to avoid the monsoon season and winter months.
- Kedarnath: Kedarnath is accessible from May to November. The best time to visit char dham yatra is from May to June and September to October. During these months, the weather is pleasant, with temperatures ranging from 5°C to 20°C. The monsoon season and winter months are generally not recommended due to heavy rainfall and extreme cold, respectively.
- Badrinath: The Badrinath temple is open from April to November. The ideal time to visit is from May to June and September to October. The temperatures during this period range from 10°C to 20°C. Again, avoid the monsoon season and winter months.
It’s important to note that these are general recommendations, and weather conditions can vary each year. It’s always a good idea to check the current weather forecasts and consult with local authorities or tour operators for the most up-to-date information before planning your trip to Char Dham Yatra.
