How To Reach Valley of Flowers

By Road: You can reach Govindghat, the starting point of the trek to Valley of Flowers, by road. Govindghat is well-connected by roads to major cities like Rishikesh, Haridwar, and Dehradun. From Govindghat, it’s a trek of about 14 kilometers to Ghangaria, the base camp for the Valley of Flowers.

By Air: The nearest airport to the Valley of Flowers is the Jolly Grant Airport in Dehradun, which is about 295 kilometers away. From the airport, you can hire a taxi or take a bus to Joshimath or Govindghat, which are the base points for the trek to the Valley of Flowers.

By Train: The nearest railway station to the Valley of Flowers is Rishikesh, which is around 270 kilometers away. From Rishikesh, you can take a taxi or a bus to reach Joshimath or Govindghat.

Valley of Flowers Trek Itinerary 

Day 1: Haridwar/Rishikesh to Joshimath:

Start your journey from Haridwar or Rishikesh to Joshimath.
Enjoy the scenic drive through the hills, covering approximately 9-10 hours.
Check into a hotel in Joshimath and acclimatize to the altitude.

Day 2: Joshimath to Govindghat to Ghangaria:

Early morning, drive to Govindghat (1-2 hours).
Begin the trek from Govindghat to Ghangaria, a 13-kilometer trek taking 4-6 hours.
Stay overnight in Ghangaria.

Day 3: Ghangaria to Valley of Flowers and back:

Trek from Ghangaria to the Valley of Flowers (3 km, approximately 2-3 hours).
Explore the stunning valley, home to diverse alpine flora.
Return to Ghangaria for an overnight stay.

Day 4: Ghangaria to Hemkund Sahib and back:

Trek to Hemkund Sahib, a revered Sikh pilgrimage site (6 km one way).
Explore the scenic lake and the Gurudwara.
Return to Ghangaria for an overnight stay.

Day 5: Ghangaria to Govindghat:

Trek back to Govindghat.
Optionally, you can take a mule or use a helicopter service.
Check into a hotel in Govindghat.

Day 6: Govindghat to Haridwar/Rishikesh:

Drive back to Haridwar or Rishikesh, concluding your Valley of Flowers trek.
