Auli

Skiing in the Himalayas

Auli, in the Chamoli district, is one of India's best ski destinations. The slopes sit at around 2,500–3,050 m with views of Nanda Devi, and the season runs from December to March. The Auli Ropeway (cable car) is one of the longest in Asia and gives access to the main skiing area.

Besides skiing and snowboarding, Auli is a base for treks to Gorson Bugyal and beyond. In summer, the meadows turn green and are ideal for hiking. Joshimath, the gateway town, has accommodation and transport options.
