Malari is a tiny village in the Chamoli region of India, close to the border with Tibet. Situated at an elevation of 3048 metres in the Dhauli Ganga valley, Malari is surrounded by rugged mountains covered in snow. Inhabitants of village moves to the lower part of Himalayas during winters due to heavy snowfall. The route from Malari leads to the nearby China/Tibet border at Niti Village and Niti Pass.
