The Panch Kedar trek is a revered pilgrimage route in the Indian state of Uttarakhand. It encompasses a series of five ancient temples dedicated to Lord Shiva, collectively known as the “Panch Kedar.” These temples hold great spiritual significance for Hindus and are located in the Garhwal Himalayas, amidst stunning natural landscapes. The trek takes you through remote villages, lush forests, high-altitude meadows, and challenging mountain terrains.

Itineary

Day 1 : Haridwar to Joshimath

  • Start your journey from Haridwar.
  • Drive to Joshimath.
  • Check-in to your hotel in Joshimath and rest for the night.

Day 2 : Joshimath to Kalpeshwar and then Sagar Village

  • Drive to Urgam Village.
  • Trek to Kalpeshwar Temple.
  • After visiting Kalpeshwar, continue the trek to Sagar Village.
  • Overnight stay in Sagar Village.

Day 3 : Sagar Village to Panar Bugyal

  • Begin the trek from Sagar Village to Panar Bugyal.
  • Enjoy the scenic beauty of Bugyals (alpine meadows).
  • Overnight stay in tents at Panar Bugyal.

Day 4 : Panar to Rudranath Temple and back to Panar Village

  • Trek to Rudranath Temple.
  • Explore the temple and the surrounding areas.
  • Return to Panar Village for an overnight stay.

Day 5 : Panar Bugyal to Sagar Village

  • Trek back from Panar Bugyal to Sagar Village.
  • Overnight stay in Sagar Village.

Day 6 : Sagar Village to Tungnath, Chandrashila, and Back to Chopta

  • Drive to Chopta from Sagar Village.
  • Trek to Tungnath Temple (3680 m), the highest Shiva temple.
  • Continue to Chandrashila Peak for panoramic views.
  • Return to Chopta for an overnight stay.

Day 7 : Chopta to Ransi Village (7 km Trek)

  • Trek from Chopta to Ransi Village.
  • Overnight stay in Ransi Village.

Day 8 : Ransi to Madhyamaheshwar

  • Trek to Madhyamaheshwar.
  • Explore Madhyamaheshwar Temple and the surroundings.
  • Overnight stay in Madhyamaheshwar.

Day 9 : Madhyamaheshwar to Ransi (6 km)

  • Trek back to Ransi Village.
  • Overnight stay in Ransi.

Day 10 : Ransi to Guptkashi (39 km Drive)

  • Drive from Ransi to Guptkashi.
  • Check-in to your hotel in Guptkashi and rest.

Day 11 : Guptkashi to Kedarnath (16 km Trek)

  • Start the trek to Kedarnath Temple.
  • Visit the sacred temple.
  • Overnight stay in Kedarnath.

Day 12 : Kedarnath to Gaurikund (16 km Trek) and Gaurikund to Guptakashi (30 km Drive)

  • Trek from Kedarnath to Gaurikund.
  • From Gaurikund, drive to Guptkashi.
  • Check-in to your hotel in Guptkashi.

Day 13 : Guptkashi to Haridwar

  • Drive from Guptkashi to Haridwar.
  • Reach Haridwar, where you can explore the city or attend the Ganga Aarti.
  • Overnight stay in Haridwar.

Panch Kedar Trek Highlights

  1. Kedarnath Temple: The trek begins with a visit to Kedarnath Temple, the most famous and revered of the Panch Kedar temples. Situated at an altitude of 3,583 meters (11,755 feet),

  2. Tungnath Temple: The second temple on the trek is Tungnath, located at an altitude of 3,680 meters (12,073 feet). It is the highest Shiva temple in the world and holds immense religious significance. 

  3. Rudranath Temple: The third temple, Rudranath, is nestled amidst alpine meadows and thick forests at an altitude of 2,286 meters (7,500 feet). It is believed to be the face of Lord Shiva. 

  4. Madmaheshwar Temple: Located at an altitude of 3,289 meters (10,791 feet), Madmaheshwar Temple is the fourth temple on the trek. 

  5. Kalpeshwar Temple: The final temple of the Panch Kedar circuit is Kalpeshwar, situated at an altitude of 2,200 meters (7,218 feet).

Clothes:
  • Synthetic /waterproof Track Pants (Do not bring shorts, tight jeans, Capri.)
  • T-shirts 3 full sleeve.
  • 1 Fleece jacket will be a good idea; a woolen sweater would be an alternative.
  • 1 Windproof jacket.
  • 1 Heavy jacket.
  • Thermal Inners.
  • 2 pairs cotton socks and 2 pairs woolen socks.
  • 2 pair water proof hand gloves.

Transport to and from the base camp
The above trek cost includes transport to and from base camp.
Safety equipment
First aid, medical kit, oxygen cylinders, stretchers, Walkie-Talkie etc. will be available at campsite.
Accommodation
Stay is included from Day 1 to Last Day. Tents/Homestays/lodges will be provided. Tripple sharing Accommodation and separate accommodation for girls/ladies will be provided
Meals
All meals from dinner on Day 1 to breakfast at Last day are included. Veg food will be provided during the trek.
Permits/ Forest fees
UTT will arrange trekking permits and forest passes.
Experienced Trek Leader & Team
Qualified trek leaders haing in basic / advanced mountaineering courses certificates/ degrees will assist trek.
Other staff member includes qualified cooks, helpers and porters.

Exclusions


Food during transit to and from the base camp
Food would not be provided during transit and trekkers have to bear the cost at their own.
Mule and Porter charges
Generally we expect trekkers to carry their bag-pack and luggage themselves. For those who wish to use Mule/Porter need to pay Rs 350 per day for same.
Personal Expense
Personal Expense of any kind. The trek cost does not include stay at any location on last day
