Fresh snow at Adi Kailash on 10 Oct; 3–4 ft cover around Parvati Kund
Follows up on 9 Oct
Snow fell again at Adi Kailash (about 14,500 ft) around 8 am on 10 Oct, Amar Ujala reported from Dharchula. Cover in the area is now 3–4 ft and temperatures were about −2 to −3°C. Cloud hid the peak in the morning; once it cleared in the afternoon, more than 100 pilgrims had darshan. Snow has piled up on the short path to the Shiv-Parvati temple, some local eateries have shut, and the Army and ITBP are serving refreshments. The report did not mention permits or road conditions. We found no report of permits resuming after the 9 Oct halt, so check with the SDM office in Dharchula before setting out. Also plan around 19–26 Oct: SDM Dharchula has said inner line permits in that window go only to Adi Kailash Parikrama Run participants and support staff (reported 28 Sep).

Tawaghat–Gunji road reopened after two landslides on 9 Oct; no fresh Mangti Nala closure reported
Follows up on 5 Oct
Heavy rain early on Friday, 9 Oct, brought down boulders at Gaskoo and Malghat on the Tawaghat–Gunji road (the Adi Kailash / Om Parvat road) at about 5 AM. BRO crews, helped by Pangla police, reopened Gaskoo at 9:30 AM and Malghat at 12:45 PM, per SDM Dharchula — roughly eight hours of disruption for hundreds of travellers. Follow-up on the 2 Oct Mangti Nala slide: we found no report since then of the road still being blocked there. A 5 Oct report put Adi Kailash arrivals at 500+ pilgrims a day, with snow cleared up to Jolingkong and the Shiv-Parvati Kund. We have not seen an official reopening notice, so confirm with the Dharchula administration before setting off. The 12 km Nabhidhang–Lipulekh stretch was still snowbound at that report. Also on 9 Oct: local taxi unions agreed that all legal vehicles may ply the Adi Kailash route if registered with the Adi Kailash Taxi Union. IMD warns of thunderstorms and gusty winds in Pithoragarh, Chamoli, Uttarkashi and Rudraprayag on 10 Oct, with rain/snow possible above 3,800 m.

Adi Kailash: permit issuance halted after snowfall in the high valleys
Follows up on 5 Oct
The Pithoragarh district administration stopped issuing inner line permits for the Adi Kailash Yatra after the weather turned on Tuesday, 6 Oct. Amar Ujala (7 Oct) reports snowfall at high altitude in the Adi Kailash, Vyas and Darma valleys, light rain around the district headquarters and a sharp drop in temperature at Kuti. Before the halt, Dharchula SDM Ashish Joshi put the day's count at 425 permits by 5 pm, and the administration said more than 800 pilgrims were in the Adi Kailash area. We found no report that explicitly confirms the Mangti Nala stretch (blocked on 2 Oct) has been fully restored, although permits were being issued and pilgrims were moving beyond Dharchula on 5–6 Oct. No date for resuming permits has been announced. Do not set out from Dharchula without checking with the SDM office or your operator.

Adi Kailash route: Mangti Nala landslide blocks Dharchula–Gunji road, 350+ pilgrims held at Dharchula
A fresh landslide at Mangti Nala on the Dharchula–Gunji road (Pithoragarh district) cut the Adi Kailash and Om Parvat route on 2 October 2026. More than 350 pilgrims were held at the KMVN base camp in Dharchula while officials monitored the slope before letting vehicles continue towards Gunji. The block came just after the BRO had cleared snow between Kuti and Jolingkong; about 8 km of that stretch was still reported under heavy snow. Inner line permit issuance had resumed. No reopening of the Mangti Nala stretch had been reported in the sources we checked on 5 October, so confirm with the Dharchula administration or KMVN before you travel.
Uttarakhand road status: overview
11 Oct 2026: Fresh snow fell at Adi Kailash on 10 Oct, leaving 3–4 ft of cover around Parvati Kund and the Shiv-Parvati temple path. Permit issuance for Adi Kailash and Om Parvat was halted after the 6 Oct weather and we have found no report of it resuming. Separately, from 19 to 26 Oct permits go only to Parikrama Run participants. On the road itself, the Tawaghat–Gunji stretch reopened on 9 Oct after slides at Gaskoo and Malghat. No fresh closure has been reported at Mangti Nala since 2 Oct, but there is no official reopening notice either, so confirm with the Dharchula administration. On the Char Dham highways (NH-7 Badrinath, NH-34 Gangotri, NH-134 Yamunotri and the Kedarnath route) we found no officially confirmed closure in 8–11 Oct reports. IMD Dehradun forecasts no weather warning from 11 to 14 Oct, so driving conditions should be steadier this week. Rain returns on 15–16 Oct.

Adi Kailash & Om Parvat road: what to expect
The road from Dharchula climbs via Tawaghat, Mangti, Malghat and Gaskoo to Gunji, then branches to Kuti–Jolingkong (Adi Kailash) and Nabhidhang (Om Parvat). This late in the season, rain lower down and snow higher up can close short stretches for a few hours, as on 9 Oct. Taxi unions at Dharchula agreed on 9 Oct that all legal vehicles may run on the route, provided they register with the Adi Kailash Taxi Union. Owners are held responsible for overloading and passenger safety, so ask your driver to confirm registration. Keep your inner line permit and ID copies handy, start early in the day, and carry warm layers — the Jolingkong area sits around 14,500 ft.
