Chopta Rudranath Trek

The Tungnath Rudranath Trek is a popular trekking route in the Indian state of Uttarakhand, located in the Garhwal region of the Himalayas. This trek takes you through stunning landscapes, dense forests, and offers breathtaking views of the Himalayan peaks. The trek begins with a walk from Chopta to Mandal, which is a small village nestled in the Garhwal Himalayas. The Tungnath Rudranath  trek is relatively easy and passes through lush forests and meadows.From Mandal, you continue your ascent to Tungnath, which is famous for its ancient temple dedicated to Lord Shiva. Tungnath is one of the highest Shiva temples in the world and a significant pilgrimage site. After visiting Tungnath, you can hike up to Chandrashila Peak, which offers panoramic views of the Himalayas, including Nanda Devi, Trishul, Chaukhamba, and many other peaks. Chandrashila is also known for its stunning sunrise and sunset views.

Itineary

Day 1 : Haridwar to Chopta (220 Km Drive 7/8 Hrs)

  • Start your journey from Haridwar early in the morning.
  • Drive to Chopta, which is approximately a 7-8 hour drive.
  • Check-in to your accommodation in Chopta, which offers basic facilities.

Day 2 : Chopta to Tungnath (6 Km Trek Both Side 5/6 Hrs)

  • After an early breakfast, start your trek to Tungnath.
  • The trek from Chopta to Tungnath is around 3.5 to 4 kilometers and can take 3-4 hours to complete.
  • Visit the Tungnath Temple, which is the highest Shiva temple in the world.
  • Optionally, you can continue your trek to Chandrashila Peak, which offers breathtaking views of the Himalayas.
  • After exploring, start the descent back to Chopta.
  • Overnight stay in Chopta.

Day 3 : Chopta to Sagar and Start trek to Panwar Bugyal ( 20 Km Drive and 12 Km Trek 7/8 Hrs)

  • Continue your trek from Sagar Village to Panar.
  • The trek can take around 6-7 hours.
  • Panar is a small village, and you can camp here or stay in a local guesthouse.

Day 4 : Pangar Bugyal to Rudranath and back to Panwar Bugyal (14 Km Trek 9/10 Hrs)

  • Trek from Panar to Rudranath.
  • This part of the trek is quite challenging and can take around 6-7 hours.
  • Visit the Rudranath Temple, dedicated to Lord Shiva, upon reaching Rudranath.
  • Camping is an option, or you can stay in a nearby guesthouse.

Day 5 : Panwar Bugyal to Sagar (12 Km Trek 6/7 Hrs.)

  • Trek back from Panwar to Sagar Village.
  • It's an opportunity to retrace your steps and enjoy the scenery once again.
  • Spend the night in Sagar Village.

Day 6 : Sagar to Haridwar (250 Km Drive 8/9 Hrs)

  • After breakfast, start your journey back to Haridwar.
  • It's about a 9-10 hour drive from Sagar to Haridwar.
  • Arrive in Haridwar, and you can explore the city or relax by the Ganges River in the evening.

Inclusions

Transport to and from the base camp
The above trek cost includes transport to and from base camp.
Safety equipment
First aid, medical kit, oxygen cylinders, stretchers, Walkie-Talkie etc. will be available at campsite.
Accommodation
Stay is included from Day 1 to Last Day. Tents/Homestays/lodges will be provided. Tripple sharing Accommodation and separate accommodation for girls/ladies will be provided
Meals
All meals from dinner on Day 1 to breakfast at Last day are included. Veg food will be provided during the trek.
Permits/ Forest fees
UTT will arrange trekking permits and forest passes.
Experienced Trek Leader & Team
Qualified trek leaders haing in basic / advanced mountaineering courses certificates/ degrees will assist trek.
Other staff member includes qualified cooks, helpers and porters.

Exclusions

Food during transit to and from the base camp
Food would not be provided during transit and trekkers have to bear the cost at their own.
Mule and Porter charges
Generally we expect trekkers to carry their bag-pack and luggage themselves. For those who wish to use Mule/Porter need to pay Rs 350 per day for same.
Personal Expense
Personal Expense of any kind. The trek cost does not include stay at any location on last day
