Gopinath Temple’s architecture
Gopinath Temple’s architecture mirrors other Shiva temples in Uttarakhand, like Kedarnath and Tungnath, featuring a large central dome housing the sanctum sanctorum. Inside, the sacred Sayambhu Shivling, known as Gopinath, resides with 24 doors. The temple courtyard proudly displays the famous 5-meter-long trident of Lord Shiva. Additionally, the temple premises house partially damaged idols, adding to its historical and spiritual significance. The intricate design and sacred elements make a unique and revered site in the spiritual landscape of Uttarakhand.

Gopinath Temple Mythology
Legend holds that the trident in  Temple’s courtyard belongs to Lord Shiva. Thrown to thwart Kamadeva’s interruption during Shiva’s meditation, the trident became firmly fixed at that spot. Only the gentle touch of a true devotee is believed to stir the trident; otherwise, it remains steadfast against even brute force
