Adi Kailash Yatra 2024

Adi Kailash Trek

The Kailash Yatra, also known as the Adi Kailash Parikrama, is a pilgrimage and trekking route situated in the Indian state of Uttarakhand. It is a spiritual journey that takes travelers through stunning landscapes, remote villages, and sacred sites.Adi Kailash  is often considered an alternative to the more famous Kailash Mansarovar Yatra in Tibet, which involves a pilgrimage to Mount Kailash and Lake Mansarovar.

Adi Kailash is located in the Kumaon region of Uttarakhand, India. It’s close to the India-Tibet border and offers breathtaking views of the snow-capped peaks of the Himalayas.Adi Kailash holds religious importance for both Hindus and Jains. It is believed to be the abode of Lord Shiva in a similar manner to Mount Kailash in Tibet. The area is dotted with several temples and sacred sites.

The Adi Kailash Yatra is a trekking expedition that circumambulates the Adi Kailash mountain range. The trek covers a distance of around 150-200 kilometers and usually takes about 10-15 days to complete, depending on the route and the trekker’s pace.

There are multiple routes that one can take during the Adi Kailash Yatra, each offering a unique experience. The most common route starts from Dharchula, passing through villages like Sirkha, Gala, Budhi, and Gunji. The trail takes trekkers through lush forests, river valleys, and high-altitude meadows.

The Adi Kailash Yatra offers stunning views of snow-covered peaks, picturesque valleys, and pristine lakes. Trekkers can also experience the local culture and interact with the residents of remote villages along the way.The weather can be quite unpredictable in the Himalayan region. Trekkers should be prepared for sudden changes in weather, including rain and snow, depending on the time of year.

I travelled through this valley in Oct. Wasn't a good idea because the snow was at its highest point. Although it was undoubtedly uncomfortable, the natural beauty was calming.
