The Mt. Kedar Dome trek is a popular trekking route in the Indian state of Uttarakhand. The Kedar Dome is a mountain peak located in the Gangotri group of peaks in the Garhwal Himalayas.

The trek to Kedar Dome is a challenging one and requires a good level of physical fitness and experience in high altitude trekking. The trek usually starts from Gangotri and takes you through beautiful alpine meadows, dense forests, and stunning glaciers.

The trek involves a climb to a high altitude of around 20,000 feet above sea level and offers panoramic views of some of the highest peaks in the Himalayas, such as Mt. Meru, Mt. Shivling, and Mt. Thalay Sagar. The best time to undertake this trek is from May to October, as the weather during this time is pleasant and the trekking conditions are favorable.

It’s recommended to plan the trek with a reputable trekking agency and hire an experienced guide to ensure safety and a successful trek.

Itineary

Day 1 : Arrival in Rishikesh - Drive to Guptkashi

  • Drive of 245km 7/8 hours
  • Drive from Rishikesh to Guptkashi.
  • A small town situated at an altitude of 1,319 meters.
  • The drive will take approximately 8 hours.
  • You will have several stops along the way to enjoy the views and take pictures.
  • Spend the night at a hotel.

Day 2: Guptkashi - Gaurikund - Kedarnath

  • 2700m 4/5 hours
  • After breakfast, you will start your trek.
  • Drive to Gaurikund and then trek to Kedarnath, one of the holiest shrines in Hinduism.
  • Along the way, you will pass through several small villages and get a glimpse of the local lifestyle and culture.
  • The trek will take around 6-7 hours.
  • Dinner and overnight stay in tents.

Day 3 : Kedarnath - Bhairav Ghati - Kedarnath

  • Trek to Bhairav Ghati, a beautiful and remote area with stunning views of the surrounding peaks.
  • Today's trek will take you through dense forests and meadows,With breathtaking views of the snow-covered peaks in the distance.
  • You will reach the Bhairav Ghati.
  • Return to Kedarnath for an overnight stay.

Day 4: Trek from Kedarnath - Gandhi Sarovar

  • Today trek will take around 6-7 hours.
  • Trek to Gandhi Sarovar, a high-altitude lake situated at an altitude of 4,800 meters.
  • After breakfast, you will start your trek to Gandhi Sarovar , a beautiful lake surrounded by dense forests.
  • Along the way, you will pass through several small villages and get a glimpse of the local lifestyle and culture.
  • Once you reach Gandhi Sarovar, you can set up camp and explore the surroundings.
  • Dinner and overnight stay in tents.

Day 5 : Gandhi Sarovar - Kedarnath

  • Around 6-7 hours.
  • Today's trek will take you through dense forests.
  • Trek back to Gandhi Sarovar - Kedarnath.
  • Overnight stay in Kedarnath.

Day 6 : Trek from Kedarnath - Bhimbali Base Camp

  • The trek will take around 5-6 hours.
  • After breakfast, you will start your trek.
  • Trek to Bhimbali Base Camp, situated at an altitude of 3,650 meters.
  • You will pass through several small villages and get a glimpse of the local lifestyle and culture.
  • You will reach the Bhimbali Base Camp, where you will spend the night.

Day 7 : Trek Bhimbali Base Camp - Kedar Dome Base Camp

  • After breakfast, you will start your trek ,The trek will take around 4-5 hours.
  • Trek to Kedar Dome Base Camp, situated at an altitude of 4,250 meters.
  • Today's trek will take you through dense forests,Today you reach beatiful peak.
  • Overnight stay in camp.

Day 8 : Kedar Dome Base Camp

  • Rest day at Kedar Dome Base Camp for acclimatization and preparation for the summit push.
  • Today, you will have a rest day in Kedar Dome Base Camp.
  • Giving you a chance to explore the surroundings and take in the beautiful views.
  • Just relax and enjoy the scenery.

Day 9 : Kedar Dome Base Camp - Kedar Dome Summit - Kedar Dome Base Camp

  • Summit day! Start early in the morning for the climb to the summit of Kedar Dome at an altitude of 6,831 meters.
  • The climb will take around 10-12 hours. Return to Kedar Dome Base Camp.
  • Overnight stay in Camp.

Day 10 : Kedar Dome Base Camp - Kedarnath

  • Trek back to Kedarnath for an overnight stay.

Day 11 : Trek Kedarnath - Gaurikund – Rudraprayag

  • Trek back to Gaurikund and then drive to Rudraprayag, a small town situated at the confluence of the Alaknanda and Mandakini rivers.
  • Along the way, you will pass through several small villages and get a glimpse of the local lifestyle and culture.
  • You will reach the a small town Rudraprayag, where you will spend the night.

Day 12 : Rudraprayag - Rishikesh

  • Say Goodbye this beautiful , that you will always remember.
  • Drive from Rudraprayag to Rishikesh.
  • Drive back to Rishikesh a journey of about 10 hours.

Transport to and from the base camp
The above trek cost includes transport to and from base camp.
Safety equipment
First aid, medical kit, oxygen cylinders, stretchers, Walkie-Talkie etc. will be available at campsite.
Accommodation
Stay is included from Day 1 to Last Day. Tents/Homestays/lodges will be provided. Tripple sharing Accommodation and separate accommodation for girls/ladies will be provided
Meals
All meals from dinner on Day 1 to breakfast at Last day are included. Veg food will be provided during the trek.
Permits/ Forest fees
UTT will arrange trekking permits and forest passes.
Experienced Trek Leader & Team
Qualified trek leaders haing in basic / advanced mountaineering courses certificates/ degrees will assist trek.
Other staff member includes qualified cooks, helpers and porters.

Exclusions


Food during transit to and from the base camp
Food would not be provided during transit and trekkers have to bear the cost at their own.
Mule and Porter charges
Generally we expect trekkers to carry their bag-pack and luggage themselves. For those who wish to use Mule/Porter need to pay Rs 350 per day for same.
Personal Expense
Personal Expense of any kind. The trek cost does not include stay at any location on last day
