Itineary

Day 1 : Arrive in Uttarkashi

  • Dehradun to Uttarkashi is a distance of approximately 155 kilometers and can be covered by road.
  • The journey takes around 6-7 hours, and you can enjoy the scenic route along the way.
  • Spend the night at a hotel.

Day 2: Trek to Gangotri and trek to Bhojwassa

  • Start your trek from the town of Gangotri, which is situated at an altitude of 3,049 meters.
  • The trek from Gangotri to Bhojwassa is a gradual ascent through beautiful pine forests, and it takes around 6-7 hours to cover a distance of 14 km.
  • The trail is well-marked and you can enjoy the views of the Bhagirathi river and the surrounding mountains.
  • You will continue your trek to Bhojwassa, which is situated at an altitude of 3,800 meters.
  • You can set up your camp here and spend the night.

Day 3 : Trek to Gaumukh and Tapovan

  • On this day, you will continue your trek to Gaumukh, which is situated at an altitude of 4,000 meters.
  • The trail is steep and rocky, and you need to be careful while walking.
  • Gaumukh is the source of the River Ganges and is considered a sacred site by Hindus.
  • Afert this you will trek from Gaumukh to Tapovan, which is situated at an altitude of 4,463 meters.
  • The trek is around 9 km and takes around 5-6 hours.
  • Tapovan is a beautiful meadow with stunning views of the surrounding peaks, including Shivling and Meru.
  • You can set up your camp here and spend the night.

Day 4: Rest day in Tapovan

  • Spend a day resting in Tapovan and acclimatizing to the high altitude.
  • Spend day Tapovan, exploring the area and taking in the beautiful views.
  • You can take short hikes in the surrounding areas, or just relax and enjoy the scenery.
  • Dinner and overnight stay in tents.

Day 5 : Trek Tapovan to Nandanvan

  • The trek starts from Tapovan, which is located at an altitude of 4,463 meters.
  • The first part of the trek involves descending from Tapovan towards the Gangotri glacier. The trail is rocky and requires careful navigation.
  • After crossing the glacier, trekkers climb uphill towards Nandanvan, which is situated at an altitude of 4,400 meters.
  • The trail is steep and challenging, and it takes around 3-4 hours to complete.
  • The stunning views of the Himalayan peaks, including Shivling, Meru, and Bhagirathi III, make the trek worth the effort.
  • Nandanvan is a high-altitude meadow surrounded by towering mountains.
  • It is an ideal spot for camping and offers breathtaking views of the surrounding peaks.

Day 6 : Trek Nandanvan to Vasuki Tal

  • On this day, you will trek to Vasuki Tal, which is a high altitude lake located at an altitude of 4,800 meters.
  • The trek is around 8 km and takes around 6-7 hours.
  • The trail leads to the stunning meadow of Vasuki Tal, which is situated at an altitude of 4,150 meters.
  • The meadow is surrounded by snow-capped peaks and is a popular camping spot for trekkers.
  • From Vasuki Tal, one can enjoy breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains, including the Chaukhamba, Kedarnath, and Mandani peaks.
  • Dinner and overnight stay in tents .

Day 7 : Trek to Khara Pathar (Mt. Shivling )

  • Start your trek to Khara Pathar, which is a 6 km trek and takes around 4-5 hours.
  • Today trek takes you through the high-altitude meadows of Vasuki Tal, over rocky ridges, and through dense forests before finally reaching the picturesque Khara Pathar.
  • The trek starts from Vasuki Tal, which is located at an altitude of 4,150 meters.
  • After crossing Suraiaya, the trek leads to the ridge of Kalindikhal, which is situated at an altitude of 5,950 meters.
  • This is one of the highest points on the trek, and from here, trekkers can enjoy panoramic views of the surrounding mountains.
  • From Kalindikhal, the trail descends to the meadow of Raj Kharak, which is located at an altitude of 4,800 meters.
  • The final leg of the trek takes you through dense forests .
  • Over rocky ridges before finally reaching the Khara Pathar is a barren landscape with stunning views of Mt. Shivling. This meadow is known for its beautiful alpine flowers and offers breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains.
  • Overnight stay in camp.

Day 8 : Trek to Tapoban

  • On this day, you will trek to Tapoban, which is a 7 km trek and takes around 4-5 hours.
  • Tapoban is a beautiful meadow with stunning views of Mt. Shivling and other surrounding peaks.
  • Overnight stay in camp.
  • Just relax and enjoy the scenery.

Day 9 : Trek to Cheerbasa and drive to Uttarkashi

  • Begin your trek back to Cheerbasa, which is a 14 km trek and takes around 6-7 hours.
  • From there, drive back to Uttarkashi and spend the night

Day 10 : Uttarkashi to Dehradun

  • Say Goodbye this beautiful , that you will always remember.
  • Drive from Rudraprayag to Rishikesh.
  • Drive back to Dehradun a journey of about 10 hours.

Transport to and from the base camp
The above trek cost includes transport to and from base camp.
Safety equipment
First aid, medical kit, oxygen cylinders, stretchers, Walkie-Talkie etc. will be available at campsite.
Accommodation
Stay is included from Day 1 to Last Day. Tents/Homestays/lodges will be provided. Tripple sharing Accommodation and separate accommodation for girls/ladies will be provided
Meals
All meals from dinner on Day 1 to breakfast at Last day are included. Veg food will be provided during the trek.
Permits/ Forest fees
UTT will arrange trekking permits and forest passes.
Experienced Trek Leader & Team
Qualified trek leaders haing in basic / advanced mountaineering courses certificates/ degrees will assist trek.
Other staff member includes qualified cooks, helpers and porters.

Exclusions


Food during transit to and from the base camp
Food would not be provided during transit and trekkers have to bear the cost at their own.
Mule and Porter charges
Generally we expect trekkers to carry their bag-pack and luggage themselves. For those who wish to use Mule/Porter need to pay Rs 350 per day for same.
Personal Expense
Personal Expense of any kind. The trek cost does not include stay at any location on last day
