Fringed with pine trees and adorned with the beauty of snow, the Kedarkantha Peak is one of the most sought after snow-trekking destinations in the country. Situated at a height of 3,800m above the sea level, the trek to this mountain pass in Uttarakhand offers various levels of challenges to the trekkers. Offering an enthralling trekking experience, Kedarkantha winter trek usually originate from Sankri; which can be easily reached from Dehradun and takes the trekkers through the immaculate beauty of the vicinity. From snow-capped Himalayan peaks to a frozen pond, meadows covered with snow to some of the other mesmerising peaks, this trek offers all the marvels, a trekker can wish for! Not just for the trekkers, Kedarkantha winter trek is also an ideal trek for the nature lovers, shutterbugs and other classes of travellers as well. Within the 6 exciting days of this expedition, the trekkers are rewarded with magical views, exhilarating experiences and delightful moments!

Itineary

Day 1 : Reach Sankri

  • Altitude: 6,397 Ft.
  • Time Taken: 8-10 hrs drive from Dehradun.
  • You have the option to travel from Dehradun to Sankri on the first day of the Phulara Ridge trek.
  • You get a chance to explore Sankri that refers to a charming small village in Uttarakhand with 250 around houses nearby.

Day 2 : Sankri to Sikolta

  • Altitude: 6,397 Ft. to 9,300 Ft.
  • Time Taken: 6 hours
  • Trek Gradient: Moderate
  • Around 3.5-4 hrs into the trek.
  • On the second day of your Phulara Ridge Trek, you will leave Sankri base camp and go towards Sikolta.
  • On this day, you will see a wonderful pine forest and charming sights.

Day 3 : Sikolta to Bhoj Gadi via Karsu Thatch

  • Altitude: 9,300 Ft. To 11,155 Ft.
  • Trek Gradient: Easy-Moderate.
  • Time taken: 4 hrs
  • Ascending trail throughout.
  • On the third day of your Phulara Ridge trek, head from Sikolta in the direction of Bhoj Gadi.
  • The journey that will be of 30 min through the forest.

Day 4 : Bhoj Gadi to Pushtara via Phulara ridge

  • Altitude: 11,115 Ft. to 9,500 Ft. via 12,127 Ft.
  • Time taken: 6 hrs
  • Trek Gradient: Use the ridge's ascent trail.
  • You will witness a breathtaking dawn that will revitalise your morning ritual before you begin your day; it takes an hour to reach the summit to watch the sunrise over the ridge.
  • It almost seems that you are walking along with mountains right next to you & wherever you’ll go they keep chasing you.

Day 5 : Pushtara to Taluka. Drive to Sankri

  • Altitude: 9,500 Ft. to 7,953 Ft.
  • Trek Gradient: Easy-moderate
  • Time taken: 5 hrs trek + 1 hrs drive to Sankri
  • Day 5 will begin with a 30-minute walk to Taluka,where you’ll get demolished huts of Gujjars on the way back to Sankri via Taluka.

Day 6 : Departure from Sankri

  • Time Taken: 8 to 9 hrs
  • On the 6th day of Phulara Ridge trek, you will say goodbye to this beautiful trek.
  • And Last from Sankri you will drive back to Dehradun that will take 8 to 9 hrs to reach Dehradun.

I went on a Kedarkantha winter trek with my grp and it was a wonderful experience with UTT. The places where we stayed in the tent had a serenity beauty and awesome scenary’s which cant be expressed in words. Food was very good & yummy, i didn’t expected to be that good. It was a wonderful experience with the blissful site of sunrise on the ketharkantha peak. We were 6 people gang with UTT team.Pradeep was our trek leader & Naresh was trek guide. They did an amazing effort manage things through the trek. Starting from food to supporting us during the difficult path during the summit he was fully with us. Transport to and from the base camp
The above trek cost includes transport to and from base camp.
Safety equipment
First aid, medical kit, oxygen cylinders, stretchers, Walkie-Talkie etc. will be available at campsite.
Accommodation
Stay is included from Day 1 to Last Day. Tents/Homestays/lodges will be provided. Tripple sharing Accommodation and separate accommodation for girls/ladies will be provided
Meals
All meals from dinner on Day 1 to breakfast at Last day are included. Veg food will be provided during the trek.
Permits/ Forest fees
UTT will arrange trekking permits and forest passes.
Experienced Trek Leader & Team
Qualified trek leaders haing in basic / advanced mountaineering courses certificates/ degrees will assist trek.
Other staff member includes qualified cooks, helpers and porters.

Exclusions


Food during transit to and from the base camp
Food would not be provided during transit and trekkers have to bear the cost at their own.
Mule and Porter charges
Generally we expect trekkers to carry their bag-pack and luggage themselves. For those who wish to use Mule/Porter need to pay Rs 350 per day for same.
Personal Expense
Personal Expense of any kind. The trek cost does not include stay at any location on last day
