Overview

The Valley of Flowers National Park, located in the Chamoli district of Uttarakhand, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site known for its stunning alpine meadows, rare Himalayan flora, and breathtaking landscapes. Nestled in the West Himalayas, this enchanting valley lies at an altitude of 3,352 to 3,658 meters, offering a mesmerizing blend of colorful flowers, lush greenery, and snow-capped peaks. Spread across 87.50 sq. km, the valley is around 8 km long and 2 km wide, making it one of the most spectacular monsoon treks in India. The region serves as a transition zone between the Zanskar and the Great Himalayas, creating a rich biodiversity hotspot within the Nanda Devi Biosphere Reserve.

The Valley of Flowers trek is a dream destination for nature lovers, trekkers, and wildlife enthusiasts, as it is home to rare and endangered species like the Asiatic black bear, snow leopard, musk deer, and blue sheep.   • Enjoy a scenic drive along the Alaknanda River, passing through Devprayag, Rudraprayag, and Karnaprayag.
  • Witness the confluence of Bhagirathi and Alaknanda at Devprayag, forming the holy Ganges River.
  • Reach Joshimath/Govindghat by evening, check into a hotel, and explore local attractions such as Narsingh Temple.

Govindghat to Ghangaria

Distance: 26 km drive + 9 km trek

  • Begin the 9 km trek from Govindghat to Ghangaria via Pulna village, following the Laxman Ganga River.

  • Arrive in Ghangaria, check-in at a guesthouse or campsite, and rest.
  • Explore the surroundings and enjoy the serene atmosphere.

Day 3

Ghangaria to Hemkund Sahib & Back
