Yatra Overview

Gangotri Dham is one of the most sacred pilgrimage sites in Hinduism, located in the Garhwal Himalayas of Uttarakhand, India. It is the source of the holy River Ganges, also known as the Ganga, which holds immense religious significance for Hindus. The word “Dham” in Hindu tradition refers to a sacred place or abode of a deity.

Gangotri is situated at an altitude of about 3,100 meters (10,200 feet) above sea level in the Uttarkashi district of Uttarakhand. It is surrounded by stunning snow-capped peaks and offers breathtaking views of the Himalayas.

Itinerary

Day 1 : Delhi — Haridwar ( , Trek: 225m/6-7hr ) 315meters

Depart from Delhi early in the morning and head towards Haridwar.Upon reaching Haridwar, check-in at the hotel and take some rest.In the evening, visit Har Ki Pauri to witness the Ganga Aarti, a mesmerizing and spiritually uplifting experience.Overnight stay in Haridwar.

Day 2 : Haridwar — Uttarkashi ( , Trek: 200km/6-7hr ) 1,352 meters

After breakfast, drive to Uttarkashi, a beautiful town located on the banks of the River Bhagirathi.On the way, you can visit some popular spots like Kash Vishwanath Temple and the Nehru Institute of Mountaineering.Upon arrival in Uttarkashi, check-in at the hotel and relax.

Day 3 : Uttarkashi — Harsil and Gangotri ( , Trek: 45km/5-6hr ) 2,620 meters,3,100 meters

Wake up early and start your journey towards Gangotri. It’s advisable to start early as the roads can get crowded later in the day.En route, you’ll pass through the charming village of Harsil, known for its apple orchards and picturesque landscapes. Take some time to enjoy the beauty of the place.Continue your drive to Gangotri, one of the holiest sites for Hindus, located on the banks of the River Bhagirathi.Visit the Gangotri Temple and take a holy dip in the Ganges to cleanse your soul.After spending some peaceful time in Gangotri, drive back to Uttarkashi.

Day 4 : Uttarkashi — Haridwar ( , Trek: 35km/3-4hr ) 1,352 meters

After breakfast, begin your journey back to Haridwar.On the way, you can visit the Tehri Dam, which offers stunning views of the surrounding areas.Reach Haridwar and check-in at the hotel. You can spend the rest of the day exploring the local markets and trying out some delicious street food.

Day 5 : Haridwar — Delhi ( , Trek: 225km /6-7hr ) 214meters

After breakfast, check out from the hotel and head back to Delhi.Reach Delhi by late afternoon or evening, concluding your Gangotri Dham trip.

“ Last year my family did this Chardham Yatra which was just amazing.. No words to say about the destinations in between whole Chardham journey.. Kedarnath, Badrinath, Gangotri, Yamunotri, Haridwar & Rishikesh was just fabulous.. we are a group of 9 members that was never seen the beauties before..
