Vasuki Tal via Tapovan is a trek with exceptional scenery where you camp at the base of huge Himalayan peaks like Mount Shivling and walk over miles of glaciers.The trek has the highest altitude of 4800 M at Vasuki Tal and is graded as moderate to challenging. This trek is very thrilling and unique from other treks because it requires traversing numerous glaciers and boulders.During the way, you may see breathtaking views of mountains like Shivling, Thalay Sagar, Meru, and Bhagirathi which are difficult for mountaineers to climb. The Vasuki Tal Trek route passes via Tapovan, a stunning alpine meadow with spiritual significance for Hindus, and Gaumukh, the source of the powerful river Ganga.Enjoy the mesmerizing view of the Bhagirathi group of peaks and then continue trekking to Gomukh (3890mt) where the water of Ganga trickles down.The best time to do Tapovan and Vasuki Tal is May – June, and September – October.

Itineary

Day 1 : Arrive in Gangotri

The only way to reach Gangotri is by road.Reaching Gangotri via Dehradun is the faster option (around 242 Kms).
After reaching here, check into the Guest House/Hotel. Have some rest.

Day 2 : Gangotri (3048 mts/10000 ft) - Bhojwassa (3792 mts/12440 ft

14 kms trek/5-6 hrs)
Start your trek towards Bhojwassa via Chirbasa (3600mt).
From Gangotri in Uttarkashi District you will move along the beaten track towards Chirbasa, which is on tree line.Trek through the roaring Bhagirathi River.
Arrive Bhojwassa campsite near.
On the summits of the Bhagirathi group, enjoy the spectacular sunset.

Day 3 : Rest & Acclamatization

Enjoy this day by making yourself comfortable with the surrounding.
Explore the nearby places and then devour in a wonderful dinner.
Overnight at Bhojwassa.

Day 4 : Bhojwassa - Gomukh (3890 mts/12760 ft) - Tapovan (4463 mts / 14640 ft) - 13 Kms

See the expansive view of the Bhagirathi group of peaks in the early morning.
After breakfast trek to Gomukh (3890mt), the source of the Ganges.
The rise from Gomukh to Tapovan is difficult, and as we ascend, the surrounding peaks come into sharper focus.
Explore the area and trek to Tapovan, one of the finest high altitude alpine meadows in the area.
On the far side of the glacier the Bhagirathi (6454mt), provide an equally impressive backdrop.
Arrive Tapovan and camp.Dinner and overnight stay in camp.

Day 5 : Tapovan – Meru Glacier - Nandanvan (4340 mts/14235/Trek 4-5 hrs)

Start this trek early to the great Meru Glacier.
We briefly stop to explore Meru Glacier before continuing on our route back to Nandanvan via Gomukh Glacier.
From Gomukh turn towards Nandanvan (4340m) and steering on right one will be on top of the Gangotri glacier.
Explore the huge crevasses gaped here and there.
Dinner and overnight stay in tents.

Day 6 : Nandanvan - Vasuki Tal (4880 m/16000 ft) Trek (12 kms / 4-5 hrs) - Nandanvan

12 kms / 4-5 hrs
Start from the morning trek along with Chaturangi Glacier to reach Vasuki Tal, a beautiful base for Mt Satopanth and Mt Vasuki Parbat with a small lake.
Arrive in 5-6 hours and overnight stay in tents.
After Exploring the area, trek back to Nandanvan.

Day 7 : Nandanvan - Cheerwasa (Trek 6-7 hrs)

Early morning enjoy the sunrise on high peaks.
After breakfast trek down to Cheerwasa.
Cheerwasa, arrive, and camp. Dinner and a night spent camping.

Day 8 : Cheerwasa -Gangotri

Trek 3-4 hrs
After breakfast get ready for trek down to Gangotri.
Enjoy this place.

Day 9 : Leave from Gangotri to Dehradun.

Say goodbye this beautiful trek.
Leave from Gangotri in the morning and reach Dehradun till evening.

The above trek cost includes transport to and from base camp.

Safety equipment

First aid, medical kit, oxygen cylinders, stretchers, Walkie-Talkie etc. will be available at campsite.

Accommodation

Stay is included from Day 1 to Last Day. Tents/Homestays/lodges will be provided. Tripple sharing Accommodation and separate accommodation for girls/ladies will be provided

Meals

All meals from dinner on Day 1 to breakfast at Last day are included. Veg food will be provided during the trek.

Permits/ Forest fees

UTT will arrange trekking permits and forest passes.

Experienced Trek Leader & Team

Qualified trek leaders haing in basic / advanced mountaineering courses certificates/ degrees will assist trek.
Other staff member includes qualified cooks, helpers and porters.

Exclusions

Food during transit to and from the base camp

Food would not be provided during transit and trekkers have to bear the cost at their own.

Mule and Porter charges

Generally we expect trekkers to carry their bag-pack and luggage themselves. For those who wish to use Mule/Porter need to pay Rs 350 per day for same.

Personal Expense of any kind. The trek cost does not include stay at any location on last day
