Mythology About Bhagirathi peak
Bhagirathi peak, also known as Bhagirathi Parbat, holds significance in Hindu mythology and is named after King Bhagiratha, a revered figure in Hinduism. According to Hindu mythology, King Bhagiratha is credited with bringing the sacred river Ganga (Ganges) from the heavens to the earth to cleanse the souls of his ancestors.
Legend has it that King Bhagiratha performed intense penance and austerities to please Lord Brahma, the creator of the universe, and sought his help in bringing the Ganga down to earth. Pleased with his devotion, Brahma granted his request but warned him that the force of the river’s descent could be overwhelming and would require a divine figure to break its fall.
