The Dodital Trek is a beautiful trekking route that takes you to Dodital Lake, situated at an altitude of 3,024 meters (9,921 feet) in the Garhwal Himalayas of Uttarakhand, India. The trek is named after the lake, which is believed to be the birthplace of Lord Ganesha according to Hindu mythology.

The trek typically starts from a small village called Sangam Chatti, which is around 200 kilometers from Dehradun, the capital city of Uttarakhand. From Sangam Chatti, trekkers embark on a journey through dense forests, charming meadows, and picturesque landscapes.The trail winds through oak, rhododendron, and deodar forests, offering a refreshing and serene ambiance. Along the way, trekkers can enjoy panoramic views of snow-capped peaks, including Bandarpunch and Swargarohini, which add to the beauty of the trek.The highlight of the Dodital Trek is reaching the emerald-green Dodital Lake, which is surrounded by lush meadows and towering mountains. The lake is known for its crystal-clear water and is home to the rare Himalayan Golden Trout, a species of fish found only in the Himalayan region.Trekkers usually spend a day or two near Dodital, exploring the surroundings, fishing in the lake, and taking in the peaceful atmosphere. There is also a small temple dedicated to Lord Ganesha near the lake, which is visited by pilgrims during certain times of the year.

The Dodital Trek is considered a moderate-level trek and is suitable for both beginners and experienced trekkers. The best time to undertake this trek is from April to June and September to November when the weather is pleasant, and the views are clear.

Itineary

Day 1: Sangam Chatti Acclimatization Day

  • Enjoy the pleasant 7-hour trip to Uttarkashi along the narrow Ganga and Bhagirathi valley.
  • Stop for lunch and a few breaks along the way. The Alaknanda and Bhagirathi rivers meet in Devprayag, where the road passes through.
  • By early evening, reach Sangam Chatti, a quaint village market place that will be the starting point of your trek.
  • Receive a briefing from the trek leader on the important information to remember.
  • Dinner and the bonfire will only be available at the campsite.

Day 2: Trek from Sangam Chatti to Bhebra (3-4 Hours)

  • Wake up with the mesmerizing view of mountains.
  • Have a delicious breakfast before getting ready for the exciting path ahead.
  • As you approach Agoda town and the start of the Dodital trekking Darwa Pass, ramble up the initial difficult climb.
  • Following that, a moderate trek to Bhebra with a few tea shacks and lodges will be encountered.
  • Set up tents at the picturesque campground over the rivulet.
  • Dinner will be served to you at the campsite only.
  • Spend the night in your tent.

Day 3: Trek From Bhebra to Dodital (5-6 Hours)

  • Wake up in the lapse of mountains and relish the morning breakfast.
  • Prepare yourself for a steady ascent from Bhebra through a mixed forest high above the Asi Ganga and into a side valley that leads to Dodital.
  • Just 5 km away at Majhi, you will witness a Gujar settlement.
  • Here, take a rest and eat your lunch. From there, proceed through a forest of rhododendron, oak, pine, and bamboo.
  • Arrive at the tranquil lake in the late afternoon. Pitch up camp next to it and savour the abundance of beauty.
  • Meals will only be available at the campsite.
  • Overnight will be spent in tents.

Day 4 : Dodital to Darwa Pass and back to Dodital (6-7 Hours)

  • Wake up in the Morning followed by breakfast.
  • Start your ascent of the summit early because it will take some effort.
  • The initial part of the trek is a delightful one as you make way through meadows dusted with snow and laced with rhododendron trees.
  • Breathtaking sights await those who succeed in reaching the summit. the magnificent Mountains.Go trigger happy and retreat to Dodital.
  • Back at the camp, have some crispy pakodas and hot masala tea.
  • Dinner will be at the Campsite.
  • Overnight stay in tents.

Day 5 : Trek from Dodital to Bhebra (4-5 Hours)

  • Wake under the mesmerizing scenic beauty around.
  • After breakfast, get ready to descend.
  • This day is fairly easy as you trek back to Bhebra that will mostly comprise a downhill trail.
  • Set up tent and take a nap after arriving at your destination, then have dinner.
  • Overnight stay in Camp.

Day 6 : Trek From Bhebra to Sangam Chatti | End of Trek

  • Wake up early to get the view at the last day in Mountains.
  • Have Breakfast at the campsite.
  • After there, descend down to Sangam Chatti; this trek takes about 2 hours to complete.
  • Enjoy the pleasant stroll around Agoda hamelt.
  • Once you reached, board a vehicle to drive down which drops you aroud 6:00PM at Dehradun.
  • Your incredible trek comes to a close at this point, leaving you with some priceless memories.
  • End of Trip Thank you.

The above trek cost includes transport to and from base camp.
Safety equipment
First aid, medical kit, oxygen cylinders, stretchers, Walkie-Talkie etc. will be available at campsite.
Accommodation
Stay is included from Day 1 to Last Day. Tents/Homestays/lodges will be provided. Tripple sharing Accommodation and separate accommodation for girls/ladies will be provided
Meals
All meals from dinner on Day 1 to breakfast at Last day are included. Veg food will be provided during the trek.
Permits/ Forest fees
UTT will arrange trekking permits and forest passes.
Experienced Trek Leader & Team
Qualified trek leaders haing in basic / advanced mountaineering courses certificates/ degrees will assist trek.
Other staff member includes qualified cooks, helpers and porters.

Food during transit to and from the base camp
Food would not be provided during transit and trekkers have to bear the cost at their own.
Mule and Porter charges
Generally we expect trekkers to carry their bag-pack and luggage themselves. For those who wish to use Mule/Porter need to pay Rs 350 per day for same.
