Gidara Bugyal is a trekking destination located in the Indian state of Uttarakhand, in the Garhwal region of the Himalayas. This trek takes you through lush meadows, dense forests, and offers stunning panoramic views of the surrounding mountains. Gidara Bugyal is situated in the Chamoli district of Uttarakhand. The trek usually starts from a village called Khirao, which can be reached by road from Joshimath.The highest point of the trek is Gidara Bugyal itself, which stands at an altitude of approximately 13,800 feet (4,206 meters) above sea level.

The trek is known for its scenic beauty, with vast alpine meadows, vibrant wildflowers, and breathtaking views of the surrounding peaks, including Nanda Devi, Trishul, Dronagiri, and more. The meadows come alive with colorful flowers during the spring and summer months.The trek is considered moderately difficult due to its high altitude and steep sections, but it is also accessible to trekkers with some prior experience. The typical Gidara Bugyal trek route involves starting from Khirao and passing through various campsites such as Auli, Tali, and Gidara Bugyal itself. You’ll trek through dense forests, climb steep ascents, and traverse meadows.

The best time to undertake the Gidara Bugyal trek is during the summer months from May to June and the post-monsoon season from September to October. During these times, the weather is relatively stable, and the meadows are at their most vibrant.Gidara Bugyal is a relatively less-crowded trekking destination compared to some of the more popular trails in the region, which makes it an excellent choice for those looking for a serene and beautiful Himalayan trekking experience.

Itineary

Day 1 :- Dehradun to Bhangeli 189 Km (7/8 Hours, 7,696 feet)

  • Start your journey from Dehradun and drive to Bhangeli.
  • This may involve a long road journey to reach Bhangeli.
  • Arrive at Bhangeli and set up your camp.
  • Rest and acclimatize for the upcoming trek.
  • Overnight stay in Bhangeli.

Day 2 :- Bhangeli to Rikoda(6 km, 4/5 Hours, 10,500 feet)

  • Begin your trek from Bhangeli to Rikoda.
  • The trail will take you through lush green forests and meadows.
  • Arrive at the Rikoda campsite and set up your camp.
  • Enjoy the serene surroundings and the beauty of the mountains.
  • Overnight stay in Rikoda.

Day 3 : Trek from Rikoda camp to Dokrani camp (5 km, 4/5 Hours, 12,052 feet)

  • Today's trek will take you from Rikoda to Dokrani camp.
  • The route may involve ascending and descending through hilly terrain.
  • Arrive at the Dokrani campsite and set up your camp.
  • Rest and enjoy the mountain views.
  • Overnight stay in Dokrani camp.

Day 4 : Trek from Dokrani to Thalotya camp via Gidara Bugyal(12,645 feet, 9 km, 6/7 Hours)

  • Start early and trek from Dokrani to Thalotya camp via Gidara Bugyal.
  • Gidara Bugyal is a beautiful alpine meadow, and you'll enjoy breathtaking views.
  • Continue your trek to Thalotya campsite.
  • Set up your camp and relax for the evening.
  • Overnight stay in Thalotya camp.

Day 5 : Trek from Thalotya camp to Tirya via Gidara Summit (13,898 feet, 8 km, 6/7 Hours)

  • Today is a challenging day as you trek to the Gidara Summit.
  • Enjoy panoramic views from the summit, and then descend to Tirya.
  • The trek may involve steep descents and ascents.
  • Arrive at the Tirya campsite and set up your camp.
  • Overnight stay in Tirya.

Day 6 : The trek Tirya camp to Bhangeli (07 km, 5/6 Hours, 7,652 feet)

  • Begin your trek back from Tirya to Bhangeli.
  • Enjoy the familiar sights of the trail you took earlier.
  • Arrive at Bhangeli and set up your camp.
  • This will be your last night in the mountains.
  • Overnight stay in Bhangeli.

Day 7 : Trek from Bhangeli to Bhangeli Road head, Drive to Dehradun by taxi (189 km) (7/8 Hours)

  • Conclude your trek by walking back from Bhangeli to the Bhangeli Road head.
  • Once at the road head, board a taxi for the return journey to Dehradun.
  • This marks the end of your trek, and you'll reach Dehradun by the evening.

Transport to and from the base camp
The above trek cost includes transport to and from base camp.
Safety equipment
First aid, medical kit, oxygen cylinders, stretchers, Walkie-Talkie etc. will be available at campsite.
Accommodation
Stay is included from Day 1 to Last Day. Tents/Homestays/lodges will be provided. Tripple sharing Accommodation and separate accommodation for girls/ladies will be provided
Meals
All meals from dinner on Day 1 to breakfast at Last day are included. Veg food will be provided during the trek.
Permits/ Forest fees
UTT will arrange trekking permits and forest passes.
Experienced Trek Leader & Team
Qualified trek leaders haing in basic / advanced mountaineering courses certificates/ degrees will assist trek.
Other staff member includes qualified cooks, helpers and porters.

Exclusions


Food during transit to and from the base camp
Food would not be provided during transit and trekkers have to bear the cost at their own.
Mule and Porter charges
Generally we expect trekkers to carry their bag-pack and luggage themselves. For those who wish to use Mule/Porter need to pay Rs 350 per day for same.

Personal Expense of any kind. The trek cost does not include stay at any location on last day
