Trek Itinerary
Day 1: Dehradun to Sankri
- Start your journey from Dehradun early in the morning.
- Drive to Sankri, which is the base camp for the Kedarkantha trek. It is approximately an 8-10 hour drive, so be prepared for a long journey.
- Overnight stay in Sankri in a guesthouse or campsite.
Day 2: Sankri to Juda-ka-Talab
- Begin your trek from Sankri to Juda-ka-Talab.
- The trail passes through dense forests, and you’ll come across beautiful meadows on the way.
- The trek to Juda-ka-Talab is around 4-5 hours.
- Set up your camp near the Juda Lake.
- Overnight stay in tents.
Day 3: Juda-ka-Talab to Kedarkantha Base Camp
- Today, trek from Juda-ka-Talab to the Kedarkantha Base Camp.
- The trail is relatively steep and might have snow in the winter months.
- It takes about 3-4 hours to reach the base camp.
- Enjoy the beautiful views of the surrounding peaks.
- Set up your camp at the base camp.
- Overnight stay in tents.
Day 4: Kedarkantha Summit and back to Hargaon
- Wake up early to start your trek to the Kedarkantha summit.
- The summit offers stunning panoramic views of the Himalayan peaks.
- After spending some time at the summit, descend back to the base camp.
- From the base camp, trek to Hargaon.
- The total trek duration for the day is around 7-8 hours.
- Set up your camp at Hargaon.
- Overnight stay in tents.
Day 5: Hargaon to Sankri, and Return to Dehradun
- Trek from Hargaon back to Sankri, which takes about 4-5 hours.
- Once you reach Sankri, you can rest for a while.
- Drive back to Dehradun, completing the journey.

Best Time to Visit Kedarkantha Trek
- December to February: This is the prime winter trekking season, with snow covering the entire trail. The landscapes are transformed into a winter wonderland, and the snowfall adds a magical touch to the trek. However, it’s essential to be well-prepared for extremely cold temperatures and challenging conditions.
- March to early April: During this period, the snow starts melting, and you can witness the transition from winter to spring. The weather becomes milder, and the trek can be more accessible for those who prefer less extreme conditions. The snow on the trail may still be present at higher altitudes.
