Haridwar/Rishikesh to Joshimath:

By Road: From Haridwar or Rishikesh, take a bus or hire a taxi to reach Joshimath. This is a picturesque journey through the hills and usually takes around 9-10 hours. 

Joshimath to Govindghat:
By Road: From Joshimath, travel to Govindghat, which is the base for the Valley of Flowers trek. It’s about a 1-2 hour journey by road, and you can hire a taxi or take a shared jeep.


Govindghat to Ghangaria:

By Trek: The trek to Ghangaria, the base camp for Valley of Flowers, starts from Govindghat. It’s approximately a 13-kilometer trek that usually takes about 4-6 hours. Alternatively, you can hire a mule or take a helicopter service, if available.

Ghangaria to Valley of Flowers:

By Trek: The final stretch of the journey involves a 3-kilometer trek from Ghangaria to the Valley of Flowers. The trail is scenic and surrounded by alpine meadows.

The nearest airport is Jolly Grant Airport in Dehradun. From the airport, you can hire a taxi or take a bus to Haridwar or Rishikesh.

Haridwar and Rishikesh are well-connected by trains from major cities. From the railway station, proceed to the next step.

Valley of Flowers Trek Itinerary 

Day 1: Haridwar/Rishikesh to Joshimath:

Start your journey from Haridwar or Rishikesh to Joshimath.
Enjoy the scenic drive through the hills, covering approximately 9-10 hours.
Check into a hotel in Joshimath and acclimatize to the altitude.

Day 2: Joshimath to Govindghat to Ghangaria:

Early morning, drive to Govindghat (1-2 hours).
Begin the trek from Govindghat to Ghangaria, a 13-kilometer trek taking 4-6 hours.
Stay overnight in Ghangaria.

Day 3: Ghangaria to Valley of Flowers and back:

Trek from Ghangaria to the Valley of Flowers (3 km, approximately 2-3 hours).
Explore the stunning valley, home to diverse alpine flora.
Return to Ghangaria for an overnight stay.

Day 4: Ghangaria to Hemkund Sahib and back:

Trek to Hemkund Sahib, a revered Sikh pilgrimage site (6 km one way).
Explore the scenic lake and the Gurudwara.
Return to Ghangaria for an overnight stay.

Day 5: Ghangaria to Govindghat:

Trek back to Govindghat.
Optionally, you can take a mule or use a helicopter service.
Check into a hotel in Govindghat.

Day 6: Govindghat to Haridwar/Rishikesh:

Drive back to Haridwar or Rishikesh, concluding your Valley of Flowers trek.
