The Dhyan Badri Temple carries a profound historical legacy dating back to the era of the Mahabharata, a monumental Indian epic. According to legend, after the culmination of the great war, the Pandavas undertook a pilgrimage to atone for their sins committed during the conflict. Each of the Pandavas, namely Yudhishthira, Bhima, Arjuna, Nakula, and Sahadeva, enshrined five different forms of Lord Vishnu in five distinct locations. These sacred sites came to be known as the Panch Badri temples. Mythological of Vridha Badri

In the mythological tale of Vridha Badri, the revered sage Narad undertook a penance at this sacred site to seek the favor of Lord Vishnu. Pleased by Narad’s devotion, Lord Vishnu manifested in the guise of an elderly man and granted his prayers. Vishwakarma, the divine architect, then crafted an idol of Lord Vishnu in the form of an old man. This sacred idol initially resided in Animath until it succumbed to flooding. In the 8th century, Adi Shankaracharya, a prominent Hindu philosopher, rediscovered the Vridha Badri idol while disseminating Hindu teachings across the country. By Road

  • Narad Kund is situated in the Chamoli district of Uttarakhand. One of the primary ways to reach Narad Kund by road is through Rishikesh or Haridwar.
  • From Delhi:- you can take a bus or hire a taxi to Rishikesh or Haridwar, which are major transportation hubs in Uttarakhand.
  • From Rishikesh or Haridwar:-you can further proceed towards Joshimath, which is the nearest town to Narad Kund. It’s approximately a 9 to 10 hours drive from Rishikesh or Haridwar to Joshimath.
  • After reaching Joshimath, you can hire a local taxi or use public transportation to reach Narad Kund. The road journey from Joshimath to Narad Kund is approximately 20 kilometers and takes around 1 hour.

By Train
